Salix Integra 'Hakuro Nishiki' Root System
Salix Integra 'Hakuro Nishiki' Root System. My neighbour has just popped outside the door with concerns about whether it is suitable to plant near the house (semi detached). A little over two years ago, i created a masterpiece post about salix hakuro nishiki (dappled willow) and my new found love of this shrub.

Best foliage color occurs in cool summer areas (north of usda zone 7). The flamingo willow is a sport of the dappled willow, achieved by propagating a genetic mutation of the dappled willow. Does anyone have any advice about the root system of these trees.

The brightly colored stems provide excellent winter interest. Each year, i cut the shrub back two to three times taking off about 4’feet each time. 'flamingo' is one of two popular cultivars of the dappled willow, salix integra.

Thereafter, you’ll be working with a plant with a fully developed root system. Easy to grow, easy to care for and not fussy about soil; I actually have this tree already, going on the third year.

When the root system is visible through the drainage hole in the bottom of the pot, the willow is ready for transplanting. This plant is practically indestructible. At this stage in its lifespan, the salix integra can tolerate the most pruning.
